The Sundog Story

We’re Alayna and Winston, college friends who somehow ended up building a shop together in the town we both love so much!

After ten years in Steamboat, Alayna was on the pursuit of a more creative career than her work in local government allowed. Around the same time, Winston was wrapping up an amazing run with his band, Tenth Mountain Division, and looking for a new start back in the mountains he grew up in.

We knew if we opened a store, it couldn’t just be generic tourist merch and that it needed to be something we were passionate about. So we spent a few months brainstorming, sketching, and figuring out what would feel true to this valley and building something we could be proud of.

In June 2025, Sundog opened its doors. Today, we’re proud to offer playful Steamboat merch for both the local and tourists, cozy après-ski loungewear, and locally made gifts - all with the bright, joyful energy of our namesake.
